Using this tool

Net price and earnings figures come directly from federal reporting. No number on this page is typed in by an editor.

Cost and earnings data from DOE College Scorecard (IPEDS 2022–23). Not every school files with IPEDS; schools without a reported net price are excluded. Earnings figures cover only students who received federal financial aid.

Frequently asked questions

What is average net price and how is it different from tuition?

Tuition is the published sticker price before any financial aid. Average net price is the institution-reported average amount students actually paid after all grant and scholarship aid was applied, as reported to the U.S. Department of Education via IPEDS. Net price is typically much lower than tuition for students who qualify for institutional or federal grants. It does not subtract loans, which must be repaid.

How is the in-state rank calculated?

All schools in the selected state that have a reported average net price in the DOE College Scorecard dataset are ranked from lowest (most affordable after aid) to highest. The rank shown is the school's position on that ordered list, a rank of 1 means it has the lowest average net price in the state among schools with available data.

What does "median earnings at 6 years" mean?

This is the median annual earnings for students who received federal financial aid and were employed, but not enrolled in school, six years after first enrolling at the institution. It is sourced from federal tax records matched to College Scorecard data. Earnings for students who did not receive federal aid, who are self-employed, or who continued into graduate school are not included, so this figure understates earnings for some highly selective institutions.

What are the four "similar-cost" comparison schools?

The four schools shown have the closest average net price to the selected school among all schools in the same state with available data, excluding the selected school itself. "Closest" means smallest absolute dollar difference in average net price. This lets you compare what similar out-of-pocket cost looks like at other in-state options.

Can I share or save this result?

Yes. Each result has a unique URL (the ?school= parameter in the address bar) that loads the same school profile when revisited. Use the Copy link button to copy the URL. Bookmarking the URL or sharing it with a family member will show the identical numbers from the same dataset version.

How current is this data?

Cost and earnings figures are from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard (2022–23 academic year), sourced via the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Not every institution reports to IPEDS or the Scorecard; schools without a reported average net price are excluded from this tool. The data on this page was last loaded from the DOE source in April 2026.
