Changelog

A dated record of real changes to PlainCampus's dataset: corrections, data refreshes, and features. See the editorial & corrections policy for how reports are verified. We never backfill or invent an entry; a gap between dates means nothing changed.

See the editorial & corrections policy for how reports are verified, and the methodology page for how the dataset is built.

  1. Correction

Fixed a FAQ answer that named the wrong federal agencies as the data source for campus crime figures. The correct source has always been the Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education Campus Safety and Security Survey, under the Clery Act; the answer text is now accurate.

  2. Feature

Added a national /statistics reference page: aggregate figures across every tracked institution, with a data-verified Key Findings summary and a source-cited methodology.

  3. Correction

Fixed a hero badge on crime-category pages that read "2026 data" while the underlying figures were 2023 data (the most recent year the federal Clery Act reporting cycle has published) -- the badge now shows the real reporting year, matching the page's own body text.

  4. Correction

Removed a ranking page that named roughly 25 real universities with specific incident counts typed directly into the page text, not drawn from the database -- confirmed against those same schools' own data-driven profile pages, which showed different, correct figures. Rebuilt the ranking to query the database directly, the same pattern already used by the site's other rankings. Also fixed a bug where a school's multi-branch crime count was silently keeping only one branch's figure instead of summing all of them, and corrected two pages that used an unfiltered institution count as the denominator for a percentile figure instead of the real ranked-institution count.

  5. Correction

Corrected the site's authorship signals: PlainCampus is the accountable Organization author, not an individual Person, so structured data no longer implies a named human reviewer.
