PlainCampus is a data-publishing project: we compile Clery Act campus-safety records for 5,673 U.S. colleges and universities from the U.S. Department of Education's Campus Safety and Security Survey and present them in plain language. The school, state, and ranking pages are generated programmatically from that federal dataset, every figure traces to the official source, so our editorial work goes into the pipeline, the methodology, and the written guides rather than hand-authoring thousands of near-identical pages. How we source, compute, and correct the data is described on our editorial & corrections policy, about, and methodology pages.
